Long Beach State Too Much For North Texas

NORMAN, Okla. (9/23/07) Long Beach State overpowered the North Texas women’s soccer team 5-0 in the final game at the Sooner Invitational. Long Beach scored three first half goals and never looked back to send the Mean Green to its second straight defeat.

 

Kim Silos scored the first two goals for the 49ers, the 12th minute of play and again the 26th minute of play to make it 2-0. Long Beach added one more goal before the break when Nikki Myers scored in the 40th minute.

 

The 49ers (5-2-1) struck twice more early in the second half with goals in the 51st and 53rd minute to put the game away for good.

 

North Texas (6-2) was outshot 25-9 in the game as Kendall Juett had four shots to lead the Mean Green. Goalkeeper Kandice Ellis made one save in the first half of play while freshman Amanda Hall played well in the second half with five saves.

 

North Texas returns home to begin Sun Belt Conference play with a match against Louisiana-Monroe on Friday at 7 p.m.
