Hat Trick For Juett As North Texas Pounds The Warhawks

MONROE, La. (9/22/06) True freshman Kendall Juett notched her first career hat trick to power the North Texas soccer team past Louisiana-Monroe 4-2 in the Sun Belt Conference opener for the Mean Green. Juett’s hat trick is only the second by a North Texas (5-2-2, 1-0) freshman since the 2003 season.

“Kendall played sensational tonight and really gave us the spark that we needed on offense,” said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. “This is a nice win for us to get the conference started on the right foot”.

Juett started the night off with her first goal in the third minute of play giving North Texas a 1-0 lead. Louisiana-Monroe (4-5-1, 0-1) tied things up at 1-1 in the 21st minute of play on a goal from Megan Moore.

The Mean Green retook the lead just before the half in the 38th minute with an own goal by Louisiana-Monroe, and led 2-1 at the break.

In the second half Juett continued to pour on the offense with her second goal of the night on a penalty kick in the 70th minute.

Juett capped off the night with her third goal in the 73rd minute making it 4-1 North Texas. The Mean Green outshot the Warhawks 21-9.

With the hat trick, Juett leads the Mean Green with seven goals and 17 points on the year.

North Texas returns to action on Sunday, September 24 with a road match at Louisiana-Lafayette.
