DENTON, Texas (9/18/08) The North Texas soccer team will look to run its winning streak to three games this Friday when the Mean Green travels to Waco to take on the Baylor Bears in what will be the final non-conference game of the season.
The Mean Green was also scheduled to play at Houston Baptist on Sunday but the game has been cancelled due to conditions from Hurricane Ike. The game will not be made up.
For North Texas, Friday’s matchup will be its first test on the road, going 5-1 thus far this season at home. Two of those wins came this past weekend over East Tennessee State and Lamar respectively. Against ETSU the Mean Green scored a season-high four goals, two of which came from forward Kendall Juett. Then on Sunday senior forward Brittany Cleveland scored her first goal of the season en route to the team’s second shutout of the season.
Baylor (3-3) has won three of their past four contests and is coming off a 3-0 victory over UTSA, the same team that beat North Texas 1-0 earlier this month.
This game should prove to be a defensive juggernaut as the Bears have allowed only five goals this season and are allowing an average of only six shots per game. Senior midfielder Andi Fagan leads the team with 10 points and four goals in 2008.
Kickoff for Friday’s game in Waco is set for 7 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field. Live stats will be available by visiting www.baylorbears.com and clicking the gametracker link.
