Juett Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

DENTON, Texas (9/8/09) - After scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to beat Texas Tech, North Texas senior midfielder Kendall Juett was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon.

The goal for Juett was her first of the season but it wasn't for lack of effort. The Carrollton, Texas native got off nine shots on Sunday before connecting on the game-winner five minutes into overtime.

"She really played well this weekend," North Texas head coach John Hedlund said. "She attacked the goal relentlessly and the goal in OT was clutch."

The game-winner was the 10th of her career, which tied her for fifth in school history alongside Brittany Cleveland. With two games this weekend Juett also climbed up the charts in games played (6th, 79) and started (5th, 79) at North Texas.

Juett, who was the Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year, leads the team with 20 shots in 2009, 10 of which are on goal.

The Mean Green is back in action this Friday when they host the Baylor Bears Friday, Sept. 11 at the North Texas Soccer Field. Head coach John Hedlund will be looking for the 200th win of his career.
