VIDEO: Mean Green Soccer Looks For More Wins At Home

Sept. 4, 2014

DENTON - The Mean Green soccer team looks to improve on its 2-0 home record when it faces Abilene Christian and Vanderbilt this weekend at the Mean Green Soccer Complex.

The Mean Green (3-0) has established a winning tradition at home. Since the Mean Green Soccer Complex opened in 2006, North Texas is a gaudy 66-9-6 (84.8 percent). The current players have lost just two games at home in their careers and they have not lost a conference game in five years in Denton.

Their only losses at home the last two years came at the hands of top opponents. In 2013, North Texas lost to Oklahoma State, 2-1, in overtime. The Mean Green lost, 2-1, to TCU on Sept. 16.

North Texas also looks to preserve its shutout record this weekend. The Mean Green is yet to allow a goal this season. Jackie Kerestine has recorded three shutouts in goal and needs just three more to become the career saves leader at North Texas. The defensive group of Leah Cox, Tess Graham, Hailey Hadden and Chelsei Soto have also prevented anyone from getting close to their keeper.

North Texas faces Abilene Christian on Friday, Sept.5 at 7 p.m. and then turns around to play Vanderbilt on Sunday at 1 p.m.
