Mean Green Soccer Receiving Votes In National Poll
North Texas Ranked Fourth In Central Region
DENTON – After posting a 2-0 record in week one of the fall season, the North Texas soccer team received votes in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national Top 25 rankings and were ranked fourth in the central region.
North Texas posted two shutouts in the opening week of action against Incarnate Word (4-0) and Oral Roberts (1-0).
The Mean Green was also recognized by the conference office. In her second and third career starts, sophomore goalkeeper Brooke Bradley was named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week for not allowing a goal in 180 minutes of play.
In the central region poll, North Texas was ranked ahead of Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas and TCU. The Mean Green was also ahead of C-USA opponents Florida Atlantic and Rice.
Last year, the Mean Green received votes in the NSCAA national poll for seven straight weeks and finished the season ranked No. 3 in the central region.
North Texas hosts two games this weekend. The Mean Green plays Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Friday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m. and then faces Abilene Christian on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m.
