Mean Green Soccer Receives First Weekly Honor Of Season
Brooke Bradley Named C-USA Goalkeeper of the Week
DENTON – North Texas goalkeeper Brooke Bradley not only secured her first two career wins this past weekend, she also recorded the first two shutouts of her career.
For her efforts, she was rewarded by being named Conference USA Goalkeeper of the Week. In just her second and third career starts, Bradley recorded six saves in a 4-0 win against Incarnate Word on Friday night, then had to make just two saves in a 1-0 victory against Oral Roberts.
“Brooke has been training very hard this year and it shows,” said North Texas goalkeeper coach Matt Montayne. “Her leadership on and off the field has driven her to compete. After watching Jackie (Kerestine) play all last year, Brooke has learned what it takes to win and compete at the Division I level. Give credit to our defense, we have been playing very solid at the back, and as a team we strive for shutouts.”
Bradley was named the Mean Green’s starting goalkeeper this season after serving as a backup to Jackie Kerestine last year. After Kerestine went down with an injury, Bradley started the 2015 NCAA game against Texas Tech and made 10 saves.
The 2-0 Mean Green returns to action this week at home when it faces Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Friday, August 28, at 7 p.m. and Abilene Christian on Sunday at 1 p.m.
