Mean Green Facing Tough Test Against Alumni Saturday

DENTON, Texas - The North Texas soccer team always knows it’s up for a challenge in the annual season tune-up against the alumni squad, which is slated for Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.

The Mean Green, which was tabbed to finish third in its inaugural season in Conference USA, has a proud history of talented players, many of which continue their careers in the game as coaches. That means North Texas is sure to be tested by an ever-growing list of former Mean Green greats.

The alumni managed a pair of goals in a 4-2 contest in 2010, and held their own in a 4-1 loss to the varsity squad last season.

North Texas Athletics is currently working on a project to highlight the advances of the Mean Green soccer program over the years, and would like to interview a couple of alumni players prior to Saturday’s game. If you would be interested in participating in the video interview please email Stephen Howard (Stephen.howard@unt.edu).
