DENTON, Texas - A hat trick from sophomore Karla Pineda paced the North Texas soccer team to a solid win over Liverpool Dallas of the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in spring season action on Wednesday.

The victory sets the Mean Green up for Saturday's showdown against Texas at Southlake's Dragon Stadium at 3 p.m. North Texas is now 2-0 this spring after taking down Oklahoma, 2-1, on March 8.

Pineda, a veteran of 10 career regular season goals and 14 assists, found the net three times against the WPSL squad, which featured several Mean Green alums. Pineda was a C-USA All-Tournament team selection in 2013.

Senior Kelsey Hodges opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and also scored off a midfield free kick in the 35th minute. Rachel Holden, Amber Haggerty and Alyson Stallcup also scored for NT.
