Mean Green Soccer Announces Spring Schedule
North Texas Hosts Annual Alumni Game On April 22
DENTON - Following a third straight Conference USA regular-season championship, head coach John Hedlund and the North Texas soccer team have announced their spring schedule, which features five games and the annual alumni game.
"Spring is always a fun time of the year for me," Hedlund said. "It gives me the opportunity to work on different systems and evaluate players for the fall. One of the highlights of the spring is the alumni game. There's nothing better than seeing my former players who have all played a major role in what this program is today."
The Mean Green opens the spring on the road on Feb. 25 against Baylor. North Texas will also play on the road on April 8th against the FC Dallas Women, a member of the Women's Premier Soccer League.
North Texas hosts four games at the Mean Green Soccer Complex, against Tyler Junior College (March 25), Midwestern State (April 1), Navarro Junior College (April 15), and the Mean Green will also play their Alumni Game on April 22.
The Mean Green return 15 letterwinners from last year's team, including all-conference honoree Carissa Sanders. Transfers Natalie Newell and Carolina Paulette have joined the Mean Green and are eligible to play this spring. The Mean Green begin their quest for a fourth-straight C-USA regular-season title in August of 2017.
North Texas opens its fall season on the road against Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara. North Texas also has a competitive home schedule with games against Arkansas, Texas and Indiana.
