Sun Belt Conference Champions Sign Five Players




DENTON (2/6/06) The two-time Sun Belt Conference Champion North Texas women’s soccer team has announced the signing of five players that will join the squad for the fall of 2006. North Texas added forward Kendall Juett, midfielder Tiffany Adams, defender’s Amanda Dvorak and Lauren Shockey, along with goalkeeper Melanie Peterson.

 

“I’m very excited about these signings. We got a great group of players and looking forward to their impact,” said head coach John Hedlund. “This class has a lot of speed and several players that are very versatile in which they can play many positions on the field at a very high level”. 

 

Tiffany Adams, Midfielder, Texas A&M-Commerce, Wichita, Kansas

In 2004 Adams was named a NCSAA Adidas All-American after posting 10 goals, four assists, and 24 points. She led the Lions in shots with 112 and was also named to the NSCAA first-team all-region. In two seasons with Texas A&M-Commerce Adams recorded 30 goals, 10 assists, and 70 points in 44 career games. 

 

Amanda Dvorak, Defender, Trinity High School, Bedford, Texas
Dvorak is a two-time District 6-5A first-team selection and was named the 6-5A Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. Her junior season she was named to the All-Tarrant County Super Team in 2005. Dvorak was named to the Dallas Morning News second-team all-area in 2005.

 

Kendall Juett, Forward, Creekview High School, Carrollton, Texas

Juett was named to the 10-5A first-team all-district team. Her sophomore season Juett was named to the District 8-5A first team in helping lead her team to the Class 5A State Championship.        

 

Melanie Peterson, Goalkeeper, Fossil Ridge High School, Keller, Texas

Peterson is a four-year letterman and two-time all-district selection. In 2005 Peterson was named to the District 5-5A Honorable Mention team. In 2004, she had 17 shutouts en route to being named to the District 5-5A second-team. This season Peterson was named to the all-tournament team at the Plano Tournament of Champions in January.

 

Lauren Shockey, Defender, Plano West High School, Plano, Texas

Shockey has scored two-goals through the 2005-06 season. She was named to the District 9-5A second team in 2004.
