Jackie Kerestine And Mean Green Team Named Statistical Champions
Goalkeeper and Team Ranked First In Save Percentage
DENTON - Jackie Kerestine and the Mean Green soccer team finished the 2015-16 season as the NCAA statistical champions in save percentage.
Goalkeeper Jackie Kerestine finished the 2015 season ranked No. 1 nationally in save percentage (0.927). Kerestine was also ranked second in goals against average and shutouts. In 2015, Kerestine broke her own records for shutouts and wins in a season with 15 shutouts and 19 wins. She was named Goalkeeper of the Week five times, including a stretch of three straight. She posted three shutouts in the conference tournament and was rewarded with Defensive MVP honors. She was named first-team all-conference for the first time in her career.
The defense in front of Kerestine was just as strong. The Mean Green team was ranked No. 1 in save percentage for the second straight year. The backline set a team record with 16 shutouts. Seniors Molly Grisham and Tess Graham were named third-team all-conference.
