CHARLOTTE - Early goals, set pieces and solid defense down the stretch have been key for the Mean Green soccer team this year, and they all played a part in today's 2-0 quarterfinal win against Marshall at Transamerica Field.

With the win, top-seeded North Texas will play either Charlotte or Middle Tennessee on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., central time.

Molly Grisham scored an early goal in the 15th minute off a corner kick by Karla Pineda, and the duo connected again in the second half on another corner kick.

Jackie Kerestine made clutch saves down the stretch and finished the game with seven saves.

Grisham scored off a header on the Mean Green's first corner kick of the game. On her second goal, she was able to bring the ball down off the corner by Pineda before slicing it in the back of the net.

Marshall kept pressing and testing the Mean Green defense down to the final minutes, forcing Kerestine to make outstretched saves low and high.
