BOWLING GREEN, Ky - The North Texas soccer team lost to Western Kentucky, 2-0, in its season finale. The loss puts North Texas at 13-4-2 and 8-1-1 in conference play.
The Mean Green was unable to get anything going offensively as they were outshot by WKU 11-4. North Texas also committed seven fouls to Western Kentucky's one.
The goals for WKU came in the 22nd minute by Ali Stahlkie and the 42nd minute by Lauren Moats.
"We just had no legs today," head coach John Hedlund said. "Playing a game on Thursday, having to travel and running up against a well rested Western Kentucky team today finally took its toll on the girls. We're still in first by a point and can finish no worse than a second seed in the tournament."
North Texas is not out of the conference title hunt yet. With one loss and one tie in conference and a tiebreaker over Middle Tennessee, the Mean Green can still grab its second consecutive Sun Belt title next Friday night if WKU knocks off or ties Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro.
"We'll just have to see how everything plays out, but Western Kentucky is a very balanced team that can beat anyone in or conference," coach Hedlund said.
