BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic soccer team scored two early goals to hand North Texas its first conference loss of the season on Friday night.

The Mean Green found itself down by two goals in the first half for the first time all season. North Texas outshot the Owls in both periods but was unable to get on the scoreboard.

The Owls applied early pressure, which led to a North Texas foul in the box, setting up an FAU penalty kick. Hildur Hauksdottir converted the kick to give the Owls a 1-0 lead at the 19-minute mark.

Kayla Faulkner scored her first goal of the season for the Owls in the 36th minute with a header off a corner kick. It was the second straight game that North Texas has allowed a goal off a corner kick.

North Texas outshot the Owls, 7-2, in the second half but could not find the back of the net. Marchelle Davis had one of the best opportunities with a hard shot in the 54th minute that hit off the crossbar.

FAU posted eight shots in the game, with seven of them on goal.
