Soccer Falls To FIU 1-0

MIAMI, Fla.- North Texas suffered the first loss of its conference season, dropping a 1-0 decision to the third-ranked team in the conference, FIU. April Perry had the game's only goal for FIU in the 59th minute.

"It's hard to believe you out-shoot your opponent 21-8 and somehow lose the game, but in the end it comes down to finishing," said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. "We had so many opportunities tonight but unfortunately the ball did not go in for us. It's an empty feeling right now, but we can't let this one loss affect us. We need to move on and get ready for Sunday."

North Texas (10-4-1, 5-1-0 Sun Belt) out-shot FIU  (8-6-1, 5-1-1 Sun Belt) 21-8, and had nine shots on goal to FIU's four.

Jackie Kerestine started in goal, and gave up just one goal for the Mean Green. Michelle Young led North Texas with five shots.

North Texas takes on Florida Atlantic on Sunday, October 14 at 12 p.m. in Boca Raton, Fla.
