Soccer Cruises Past Louisiana-Lafayette 4-0

DENTON, Texas- North Texas (7-5-1, 2-2 SBC) dominated the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (6-7, 1-3 SBC) to earn a 4-0 victory on Sunday afternoon, the Mean Green's second straight 4-0 victory in the Sun Belt. Four different players added goals for the Mean Green.

"We need to win all of our games at home," said North Texas Head Coach John Hedlund. "Our goal has never really changed. We try to attack the opponent, go at them and numbers and apply pressure. We were able to do that pretty much the whole day, and that's where the goals came from."

Michelle Young started the scoring in the second minute when she scored on a breakaway for her second goal in as many games, and her fifth goal of the season as she scored on a breakaway pass from Loreli Ramsey, who earned her first assist of the season.

Carly McDowell doubled North Texas' lead when she scored directly off a corner kick in the 15th minute. McDowell now has three goals in the past two games.

Nikki Crocco added her second goal of the season in the 53rd minute, scoring off a narrow angle shot that the keeper could not cleanly stop. Kelsey Perlman fed her the ball to score, giving Perlman a goal or an assist in three straight games, and now has nine points over her last six games.

The Mean Green received a penalty kick in the 65th minute when Dani Watson was taken down in the box, which Ellen Scarfone converted moments later to give North Texas the final margin of victory. The goal was Scarfone's fourth of the season.

Mandy Hall made three saves and posted her seventh scoreless outing of the season. Hall lowered her GAA to 0.73, and earned her fourth complete game shutout of the season.

North Texas travels to Troy for their next contest on Friday, October 8th, with kick at 7 p.m. The Mean Green return home to the North Texas Soccer Field on Friday, October 15th to host FIU, with kick time now at 6 p.m.
