Scarfone's PK Leads Soccer To 1-0 Victory




MONROE, La.- North Texas continued its unbeaten start in the Sun Belt with a 1-0 victory over ULM at the ULM Soccer Complex on Friday. Ellen Scarfone scored the game's only goal in the 51st minute.

"Credit Stacy and her staff, her team worked hard throughout the match, and her goalkeeper, Alex Holland, played outstanding," said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. "For us, we need to continue to work on finishing but I was really proud of our defense once again," added Hedlund.

Ellen Scarfone scored on a penalty kick for North Texas, for her third goal of the season. The goal was her fourth career goal from the spot in four tries, which puts her alone in third place on North Texas' career penalty kicks made list. Scarfone has scored in two straight games.

The Mean Green (8-3-1, 3-0-0 Sun Belt) continue their unbeaten start against the Sun Belt, winning their first Sun Belt road game of the year against ULM (5-6-1, 0-3-0 Sun Belt).

Jackie Kerestine earned her third shutout on the season and second consecutive shutout, making four saves in net. She has now held opponents scoreless for the last 213:02 of game time.

The Mean Green return to action on Sunday, October 1 at Louisiana-Lafayette with kick set at 1 p.m. North Texas returns to the Mean Green Soccer Complex on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m. against Troy.
