Soccer Downed By Cal State Fullerton

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Ann Marie Tangora scored a hat trick for Cal State Fullerton, as North Texas fell to the Titans 4-1 in the Nike Classic. Kelsey Hodges had the Mean Green's only goal.

"This one is on me," said North Texas head coach John Hedlund. "The game was scoreless with 20 minutes to play in the first half, and I went crazy with the subs. I wanted to answer all of the question marks on my roster, with this being our last game before Sun Belt play."

"The score does not really reflect how well we possessed the ball and how even the shots were throughout the game. I'm proud of the girls because this was probably the toughest non-conference schedule we've played in years, and heading into conference, we have a winning record," added Hedlund.

Tangora's hat trick started in the 28th minute, then she added goals in the 29th and 32nd minutes to give Cal State Fullerton a 3-0 lead. Rebecca Wilson added a fourth for the Titans in the 46th minute.

Kelsey Hodges scored her fourth goal of the season for the Mean Green, scoring in the 72nd minute. Hodges has 13 goals for her career.

North Texas falls to 5-3-1 on the season, while Cal State Fullerton improves to 4-4-1.

Cal State Fullerton out-shot North Texas 20 to 18.

North Texas opens conference play on September 23, as it hosts Western Kentucky at the Mean Green Soccer Complex at 7 p.m.
