Soccer: Draws New Mexico 1-1

DENTON, Texas- Michelle Young scored her second goal of the season to give North Texas (4-1-1) a 1-1 double-overtime draw against the New Mexico Lobos (4-0-2) at the North Texas Soccer Field on Sunday. North Texas is now unbeaten in their last seven games at home (6-0-1) dating back to the 2009 season.


Rachel Fields started the scoring for the Lobos, who are receiving votes in the most recent NSCAA/adidas poll, when she knocked in a cross from Jennifer Williams in the 7th minute of the game. The goal was Fields’ third of the season.

Michelle Young equalized for the Mean Green in the 15th minute, as she volleyed a deflection off the goalkeeper into the net. The goal was Young’s second of the season.

Mandy Hall received the start in net for North Texas, and she remains undefeated on the season at 3-0-1. Hall made four saves and her Goals Against Average for the season remains a miniscule 0.46.

North Texas makes a two-game road trip to Lubbock starting on Friday, September 10th as they take on Texas Tech at 7 p.m., before facing Lamar on Sunday, September 12th. The Mean Green return to the North Texas Soccer Field on Friday, September 17 to take on the SMU Mustangs at 7 p.m.
