Prospective Student-Athlete Information - Women's Golf

Women's Golf Questionnaire

We are excited about your interest in the University of North Texas and Mean Green women's golf. Head coach Jeff Mitchell has put the women's golf program on the map regionally and national in his five seasons.

The women's golf team placed in the top five in two tournaments during the 2012-13 season. True freshman Georgina Mundy captured the UALR Women's Golf Classic title. She was the first freshman to capture an individual title since 2001 and only the third overall in school history.

Former North Texas golfers are finding success after their collegiate careers are over. Randi Gauthier qualified for the 2006 U.S. Women's Open, while Nina Reis earned her LPGA Tour card for the 2006 season.

Quick Hits On North Texas
While a member of the Sun Belt Conference, North Texas has captured 23 conference championships since 2001. Individually, 89 Mean Green student-athletes were named All-Sun Belt Conference during the 2012-13 school year. In its final year as a Sun Belt Conference member, the Mean Green won five conference championships, including four conference tournament titles. The five Sun Belt championships are the most that North Texas has ever won in a single season.

The Women's Golf Coaching Staff
Please note that, per NCAA rules, coaches can only respond via e-mail to juniors (after September 1) and seniors in high school. Coaches must mail responses to freshmen and sophomores, per NCAA rules. You can call any North Texas coach, but they cannot return your phone call unless you are a senior in high school.

Facilities
The Mean Green golf teams worked out at a new indoor practice facility in 2006. Located on Bonnie Brae Avenue across from the athletic center, the Mean Green Softball and Golf Facility houses indoor putting and driving areas. This facility allows athletes from the softball and golf programs to hone their skills in the comfort of a climate controlled indoor practice range. For golf, the facility houses two net enclosed driving ranges and a putting green with full length wall mounted mirrors to help coaches and athletes monitor swinging motion.

The North Texas golf teams practice on some of the finest golf courses in the area, including Oakmont Country Club, Tour 18, Lantana Golf Course, Robson Ranch, Trophy Club, Golf Club at Champions Circle and Bridlewood Country Club.

Academic Athletic Services
In the Fall of 2005, the academic and compliance staff relocated to the Mean Green Village. Located on Bonnie Brae, the new Student-Athlete Development Center is three times the size of the former academic center. The Center serves as the cornerstone of the Mean Green Village and is only a short walk from the surrounding sports facilities.
