DENTON, Texas (11-18-08) The North Texas women’s golf team has announced the signing of Brooke Bailey from Abilene Cooper High School to a National Letter of Intent. Bailey will arrive at North Texas for the 2009-10 season after a standout high school career.
“I am very excited to have Brooke joining our team next fall,” North Texas head golf coach Jeff Mitchell said. “I have had the opportunity to watch her play and develop and am confident that she will have an immediate ad positive impact on our program.”
Bailey has over 44 tournament wins in her career and numerous top finishes in national ranked events. She was also ranked in the top five of the Texas 2009 recruiting class, according to Polo Golf Rankings. For three straight seasons she has been named first-team all-district and was a Class 5A regional qualifier the past two years.
Bailey was also second at the Florida Junior Invitational, fifth in the AJGA Abilene Dodge/Estes Jr. Tournament and won the Abilene Halloween Classic, with two day scores of 70-72 (142).
“Brooke is exactly the type of player that North Texas women’s program is looking for,” Mitchell said. “She is a great student, hard worker, and has a positive attitude. She has a lot of low rounds in her future, too.”
