DENTON – The University of North Texas women’s golf team has signed Samantha Huang and Kalli Jennings to National Letters of Intent. Huang, who hails from Shenzhen, China, is one of the highest rated international players while Jennings is ranked in the top 40 in the state of Texas.
Huang is ranked seventh among international players and 66th in the United States. She has three wins and 19 top-10 finishes in her last 23 starts. She is currently attending the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
“Samantha is a hard working, highly motived young lady,” said head coach Jeff Mitchell. “She will make a big impact on this team. She is a very good student and a highly accomplished golfer.
Jennings is from Andrews High School. She captured the Honda Classic High School Invitational in October by knocking off the 11th-ranked player in the nation. This past spring, she finished third in the 2014 Class 3A State golf championship in helping lead Andrews to the state title for a fourth-consecutive year.
“I look for Kalli to really blossom as a competitive golfer,” said Mitchell. “She is strong and has great length and also has great touch around the greens, She is going to be fun to watch.”
