Strong Opening Round For Lambright Leads North Texas

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (10/16/06) Senior Tara Lambright fired a 2-over par 74 to lead the way for the North Texas women’s golf team in the first round of play at the TaylorMade Aztec Fall Classic.


In a crowded field of over 100 golfers, Lambright is tied for 16th place after first round. She fired an even-par front nine with a 36 and a back nine of 38.


Junior Lauren Cheves is three shots back with an opening round of 77 and is tied for 33rd place. Halli Richards shot a first round of 79 and is tied for 56th. True freshman Maggie Noel posted a first round of 80 and Janna Golden an 81 in the opening round.


North Texas as a team shot a first round of 310 and is tied for 11th place with Notre Dame and Xavier in the field of 19 teams.


The Mean Green is just nine shots off of third place, but Denver blistered the field with an opening round of 279 and leads by 17 shots after the first round.
