North Texas Closes Out The Fall Season With Its Best Score

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (10/15/08) The North Texas women’s golf team closed out its best tournament of the season at the Price’s “Give Em” Five Intercollegiate led by junior Janna Golden. The Mean Green fired a final round of 313 and posted a three-round score of 933, its lowest team score of the season. During the tournament, North Texas shot two of its three best rounds this season during the tournament.

"This is a successful outing for us. I am really proud of this team's progress and we are lowering our scoring at every event,” said Coach Jeff Mitchell. “Mostly I am impressed with the hard work that
has been put in.  We are only going to get better and more competitive from here."

Golden led the way for the Mean Green with a final round of 79 and a three-round score of 228. She finished tied for 22nd place. Addison Long, Maggie Noel, and Jordan Rose all posted third round scores of 78.

Long shot a 233 for the tournament, Noel a 235, and Rose a 237. Chandra Alexander rebounded from a tough opening two rounds to shoot a third round of 80, her best of the event.

North Texas finished in a tie for 13th place at the tournament, but was three shots away from finishing in the top 10.

This is the final fall tournament for North Texas as they begin training for the spring season which begins on Feb. 23-24 at the Islander Spring Classic.
