Richards And Alexander Pace Mean Green After The Opening Round

LAS CRUCES, N.M. It was a solid start to the Price’s Give Em Five Intercollegiate for the North Texas women’s golf team as they fired an opening round of 307 and sit just shots behind the leaders after the first day.


The Mean Green is tied for 10th place but only nine shots behind the clubhouse leader Missouri and four shots away from the top five.


True freshman Chandra Alexander and Halli Richards posted the best rounds of the day for North Texas with scores of 3-over par 75. Richards had a front nine of 35 and closed with a back nine of 40.


Alexander was steady throughout the 18 holes with a 37 on the front nine and a 38 for the back nine. The pair is tied for 16th place heading into the second round.


Jordan Rose is only two shots behind with an opening round of 77. Rose fired a back nine of 37 and is tied for 35th place. Janna Golden and Maggie Noel had their struggles on the day with opening rounds of 80 but have 36 holes to recover.


The field of 16 teams tee’s off tomorrow’s second round at 8:30 a.m. from the NMSU Golf Club.
