Noel Leads North Texas After First Day In New Mexico




LAS CRUCES, N.M. (10/13/08) It was the best round of the year for the North Texas women’s golf team as they are alone in sixth place after the first round of play at the Price’s “Give Em” Five Intercollegiate.  North Texas fired a 304 and are just 11 shots off the lead heading into the second round of play in the deep field of 17 teams. 

The Mean Green is in front of Kansas State, UTEP, Cincinatti, Hawaii, Missouri, and Colorado State

Junior Maggie Noel had her best round of the year with a 2-over par 74 and is tied for ninth place. Noel shot a 2-under par 34 on the front nine and is four shots off the lead. Janna Golden is one shot behind with a 3-over par 75. Golden rebounded on the back nine with a 2-under par 34.

Freshman Addison Long is two shots back with an opening round of 77. Jordan Rose, who has been battling through injuries, is one shot behind with a 78. Chandra Alexander carded an opening day of 81.

The second round from the NMSU Golf Club begins tomorrow at 8 a.m.
