Women Look To Make It Three In A Row

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - After opening the season with unprecedented success, the North Texas women's golf team looks for its third straight win to the season as the play in the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate starting on Monday morning.

North Texas has won back-to-back tournaments for the first time in school history after wins to start the year at the NT Worldlink Fall Classic and the Rose City Invitational. The Mean Green has climbed into the top-50 in the nation as they are No. 37 according to Golfstat and No. 47 in the Golfweek national rankings.

"The women's golf team is very excited about traveling to Las Cruces to compete in the Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational," said head coach Jeff Mitchell. "This is a tournament that we have enjoyed in the past and have had some success with.  It is always helpful to return to a tournament where you know the golf course and are familiar with the weather patterns.  This year's event consists of some very strong teams.  It will be our toughest test so far this fall.  If we continue to go out and play our own game and not get caught up in all of the "stuff" around us, we are a very good team."

Junior Kelsey Kipp is coming off one of the best stretches in her career, in which she was named the Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the month.  Kipp won the Rose City Invitational in a 12-hole playoff and finished second at the NT Worldlink Fall Classic.
