North Texas Ties For Fourth At The Marilynn Smith Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. (10/3/06) A strong final round of play powered the North Texas women’s golf team into a tie for fourth place at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.


North Texas tied with Missouri for fourth place with a three-round score of 936 in a deep field of 16 teams.


The Mean Green shot a third round score of 309, and were one of only five teams to post a round of under 310 throughout the entire tournament.


Individually for the Mean Green freshman Maggie Noel led the way with a top 10 finish. Noel shot a final round of 78 and posted a score of 232 to finish in a three-way tie for 10th place.


Lauren Cheves finished in 13th place as posted a final round of 77 and was one stroke behind Noel at 233. Halli Richards had her best round of the tournament with a third round of 77 and shot 234 for the event to finish in 14th place.


Tara Lambright finished strong as she shot a 77 in the third round, her best round of the event, and had a 237. Freshman Kelsie Gray posted a final round of 86.


North Texas is back in action on October 16-17 at the Lady Aztec Fall Classic.
