Mean Green Achieves Highest School Ranking

DENTON, Texas – The North Texas women’s golf team has achieved its highest ranking in school history as they are ranked 41st in the nation after the first two weeks of the season.
Golfweek.com has the Mean Green ranked 41st in the country and Golfstat.com has the women ranked 46th in the nation. Both of those top the previous record ranking of No. 47 which North Texas reached last year.
“This is exactly why I have worked so hard on improving our strength of schedule,” said head coach Jeff Mitchell. “Even with a tough finish this week, we are in a good position. Our current strength of schedule rating (13) is a far cry from our rating from last year (103). Not only will this help our rankings, but we are playing with some of the best teams in the country. It is a litmus test for where we are and where we can go.”
Through the first two tournaments, the Mean Green has finished in fourth place and 13th place against stout competition as the North Texas strength of schedule through the first two tournaments is 13th in the country.
North Texas in those two tournaments this season have defeated two top-25 teams (Texas A&M, Florida State) and six top-50.
