Cheves Paces The Mean Green In Final Round

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (9/26/06) Junior Lauren Cheves closed out the final round of the Ron Moore Invitational with a three-round score of 3-over par 219 to earn a top 15 finish for the North Texas women’s golf team. Cheves finished tied for 13th place in an elite field of 84 players.

 

“This was a really talented group of teams and players and I was really proud of the way that Lauren played,” said North Texas head coach Amber Chevrie.

 

The Mean Green finished in 13th place in a field of 16 teams with a three-round total of 929.

 

Junior Halli Richards had the best round of the day for North Texas with a 4-over par 76. Richards finished tied with a 236 with teammate Tara Lambright. She posted a third round of 80.

 

Freshman Maggie Noel had a third round of 82 and shot a 243 while other true freshman Jordan Rose had a 77 in the final round.

 

The Denver Pioneers won the team title for the second consecutive year.

 

North Texas returns to action on Monday, October 2-3 at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.
