DENVER, Colorado - It was a strong final round for the North Texas women's golf team at the Ron Moore Invitational as Maggie Noel and Jordan Rose posted top 20 finishes. North Texas shot its tournament low score of 307 in the final round and finished in seventh place.
"I look at this as a very positive start for us," said coach Jeff Mitchell. "After getting little practice at home for the week leading up to the tournament due to rain, the team did a great job of fighting hard through tough conditions for three days. We beat some quality teams in the process. UALR was runner up in the conference a year ago and New Mexico State is a perennial top 50 team. I can't wait to compete again in two weeks."
Noel and Rose both posted the low rounds of the tournament for the Mean Green with final rounds of 3-over par 75. Noel shot a 229 for the tournament and finished in a tie for 12th place. Rose was two shots behind with a 231 and ended in a tie for 18th place.
Janna Golden shot a third round of 81 while sophomore Kelsey Kipp, making her debut for the Mean Green, carded her best round of the tournament with a third round of 76. Sophomore Addison Long posted a final round of 81.
Denver, the No. 6 team in the nation, captured the overall team tournament title.
North Texas is back in action at the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate Oct.12-14.
