NT Women Nine Strokes Back After Day One At Robson Ranch

Day One Results

ROBSON, Texas (9/10/07) The Mean Green women’s golf team overcame the wind and rain, and wrapped up the first day of action still in the hunt at the North Texas Women’s Golf Classic at Robson Ranch.

Led by Maggie Noel, the Mean Green shot a 308 (+20), good for a ninth place tie after the morning round was washed out by thunder storms. Noel is tied for 19th place overall with a four over par 76.

“I think we played well, and we are only a few strokes back after a tough round,” said North Texas head coach Amber Chevrie. “We are right where we want to be, in the hunt for tomorrow.”

The Mean Green is only nine strokes back from Oklahoma City University which shot a 299. Due to rain-soaked conditions on the course, only one individual in the 86-player field managed an under par round.

North Texas’ Jordan Rose and Chandra Alexander are both tied for 30th place with an opening round score of 77, and Janna Golden isn’t far behind with a 78. Halli Jo Richards fired a first-round score of 82.

The North Texas Women’s Golf Classic resumes for the final round tomorrow at 8 a.m. at Robson Ranch.
