DENTON, Tex. (7/9/07) Freshman Jordan Rose proved her mettle on the golf course this season and now she has shown what she can do in the classroom. Rose was honored today by the National Golf Coaches Association and named to the All-American Scholar Team for Division I-A golfers.
Rose, who is still undecided in her major, was one of 368 Division I, II, III athletes honored. Only 15 student athletes, including Rose, from the Sun Belt Conference made the list.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
Rose capped off her freshman campaign with her best finish of the season (17th) at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
