DENTON, Texas (7/1/09) Junior Jordan Rose and freshman Addison Long piled up the accolades on the golf course this season and now they have been recognized for their work in the classroom. Rose and Long were honored by the National Golf Coaches Association and named to the 2008-09 All-American Scholar Team.
It’s the second straight year that Rose has been named to the team. The pair was one of 410 student-athletes from Division I, II, and III honored. Rose is an accounting major while Long is an economics major.
“Jordan and Addison have shown a tremendous amount of dedication to their academics as well as to their golf. I am really proud of both of them for this achievement. They exemplify the meaning of student-athlete" said head coach Jeff Mitchell.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
