DENTON, Tex. (4/23/07) The North Texas women’s golf team has announced the signings of Kirsten Spittler from Westwood High School and Kyla Whittley of Wall High School to National Letters of Intent. Spittler and Whittley will arrive at North Texas for the 2007-08 season after standout high school careers.
Spittler was a four-year letterwinner at Westwood High School just outside of the Austin area. Her senior season she posted a stroke average of 73.6. She won the District 14-5A Championship her junior and senior season and is a three-time first-team all-district selection.
In 2006 Spittler was named to the all-region team. She has numerous Top 10 finishes in the Texas Junior Golf Tour and Texas Legends Junior Tour Tournaments. Spittler had a top 10 finish in the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Fidelity Stars of Texas Tournament.
Whittley is a three-time state qualifier and won the 2005 Class 2A individual state championship. As a freshman Whittley was the Class 2A State Runner-Up and again as a junior in 2006 she was the State Runner-Up. She is a two-time regional champion and two-time district champion.
Whittley has over 20 high school victories in her career and a stroke average of 76.2 in high school.
