MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - Addison Long and Kelsey Kipp fueled a turnaround for the North Texas women's golf team as they moved up the leaderboard after the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Mean Green climbed to seventh place after shooting a second round of 304. North Texas has a score of 617 after 36 holes.
Long, who shot an opening round of 88, cut 16 strokes off her second round score and posted an even-par round of 72. Her score was tied for the third lowest on the afternoon.
Long had four birdies and 10 pars on the afternoon. Kipp shot a 2-over par score of 74 and has the best two-round score for North Texas at 152 through two rounds. Kipp is tied for 14th place.
"I am really proud of the team for rebounding after a very difficult week in Waco and a tough opening round yesterday," said North Texas coach Jeff Mitchell. "They had the chance to just check it in, and they didn't. Hopefully, this will give us some positive energy to put in a really good effort in the final round."
Jordan Rose is tied for 26th place after a second round of 80. Senior's Maggie Noel and Janna Golden shot second rounds of 78 and 82.
Denver continues to be in the overall lead with a two round score of 579 as they take a 19 stroke lead into the final round tomorrow.
The final round is tomorrow from The Schoolmaster Course.
