MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. - It was a blustery for the second round of the Sun Belt Conference Golf Championship and the North Texas women's golf team fell back and sits in fourth place after 36 holes. The Mean Green shot a second round of 301 and sit 11 strokes behind defending conference champion Denver.
"Today was a big struggle from start to finish," said head coach Jeff Mitchell. "With the wind up, we just could not get any momentum going. We struggled a lot on the greens and made very few birdies. We are, though, a third round team. And, if ever there was a time to be a third round team, now is that time. I am really proud of Kelsey Kipp for bouncing back today."
Kipp had the best round of the day for North Texas at even-par 72. Kipp had one birdie, one bogey, and 16 pars on the day. She is tied for 12th place after two rounds.
Chandra Alexander remains in the top-10 after a second round of 76. Alexander is tied for sixth place but only two strokes off the individual lead heading into the final round. Alexander is at even-par 144 after two rounds.
Freshman Chaslyn Chrismer is tied for 16th place after a second round of 76 while Jacey Chun and Addison Long are both tied for 31st place. Chun shot a second round of 80 while Long had a 78.
