WACO, Texas - A strong second round by the North Texas women's golf team has put them into a tie for seventh place after the first 36 holes of the Baylor Spring Invitational. After an opening round of 318, the Mean Green cut seven strokes off that to post a 311 in the second round and is in the middle of the pack in deep field of 15 teams.
The trio of Addison Long, Kelsey Kipp, and Maggie Noel are all in the top 30 after the first two rounds. Long shot back-to-back rounds of 78 and is tied for 21st after the first two rounds. Kipp shot rounds of 79 and 78 and is just one stroke behind Long with a 157. She is tied for 24th place.
Noel had the best round of the day for the Mean Green with a second round of 5-over par 77. Noel is just a shot behind Kipp and two off the pace of Long with a 158.
Janna Golden had scores of 80 in both of her rounds of play while Jordan Rose bounced back from an opening round of 88 to fire a second round of 78.
North Texas is tied for seventh with UTSA with a 629, but only five strokes behind Kansas State and Oregon from reaching the top five.
The final round begins tomorrow with a shotgun start the Twin Rivers Country Club.
