NORMAN, Okla. (4/9/07) Senior Tara Lambright and freshman Janna Golden played their best rounds of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic to pace the North Texas women’s golf team at the Jimmie Austin Golf Course.
In the final tune-up before playing in the Sun Belt Conference Championship next week, the Mean Green faced perhaps its deepest field of the season. The 17-team field featured teams from the Big 12, Big 10, and SEC. North Texas as a team finished in 16th place with a final round of 306.
Lambright finished tied for 34th place with a final round of 1-over par 73 to post a 225. The 73 by Lambright was her best round of the season. Golden was 2-over par in the final round and two shots behind Lambright for the tournament with a 227.
Freshman Jordan Rose fell off the pace in the final round with an 81 to finish at 235. Kelsie Gray shot a final round of 80 and carded a tournament score of 237. Freshman Maggie Noel rebounded from a difficult second round with a third round of 80 to close with a 241 for the event.
The Mean Green now turns its attention to the Sun Belt Conference Championship which begins next week in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
North Texas is in search of its first ever women’s golf conference championship.
