North Texas Off To A Tough Start In Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. (4/6/08) It was a difficult opening day for the North Texas women’s golf team at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic as the Mean Green are in 14th place after the first two-rounds of play. North Texas shot a 312 in the first round but fell off the pace in the second round with a 319.


Jordan Rose led the Mean Green individually with a two-round score of 157. She posted a 77 in the opening round then a second round of 80. Halli Richards is one shot back after an identical first round of 77 then an 81 in the second.


True freshman Chandra Alexander and Kirsten Spittler both shot 160 for their two-rounds of play. Alexander had her best round of the day in the opening round with a 78 while Spittler posted her best round of the year with a 77. Maggie Noel had a two-round score of 161 in the opening day of the tournament.


The host school Oklahoma leads the tournament with a score of 587.


The final round of the tournament begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. from the Jimmie Austin Country Club.
