Alexander And Richards Shine For North Texas In Final Round

NORMAN, Okla. (4/7/08) The North Texas women’s golf team was unable climb the standings in the final round of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic as the Mean Green finished in 14th place. North Texas shot a final round of 318 and carded a 949 for the tournament in the squad’s final tune-up before the Sun Belt Conference Championship.

Oklahoma edged UALR by four shots to win the team championship.

Junior Halli Richards, who has been battling nagging injuries throughout the season, led the way for the Mean Green as she posted her best round of the tournament with a final round of 76. She finished with a 234. Freshman Chandra Alexander had the lowest score of the tournament for North Texas in the final round with a third-round score of 3-over par 75. She was one-shot behind Richards in posting a 235.

Jordan Rose struggled in her final round with an 83 and shot a 240 for the three rounds. Kirsten Spittler fell off the pace with an 84 in the third round while Maggie Noel fired a final round of 85.

North Texas has two weeks to prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championship on April 21-23 in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
