Long Paces North Texas After First Two Rounds

NORMAN, Okla. (4/5/09) It was a blustery day on the links for the North Texas women’s golf team and the rest of the field at the first day of the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic. The Mean Green shot a two-round score 674 through the first 36 holes and is alone in 13th place heading into the final round.


With low scoring at a premium, freshman Addison Long battle through the tough conditions to shoot a second round score of 77. Long’s score was the ninth lowest of the entire field. For two rounds she posted a 162 and is tied for 28th after 36 holes.

It wasn’t any easier for the rest of the group. Janna Golden fired a 168 while Jordan Rose fired a 170 and Chandra Alexander a 174.


The Mean Green was a little shorthanded in the second round as Maggie Noel was forced to withdraw after an opening round of 89. Kelsie Gray, playing as an individual shot a two-round score of 173.  


The final round of the tournament begins tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start.
