LANTANA, Tex. (3/28/06) Led by sophomore Halli Richards the North Texas women’s golf team finished third at the North Texas/UALR Women’s Golf Classic from Lantana Country Club. The Mean Green finished seven shots behind the tournament champion Arkansas-Little Rock.
“We made a run a good run at UALR in the final round but just came up a little short,” said North Texas head coach Amber Chevrie. “Halli (Richards) had a great tournament and I’m proud of the way that she played”.
Richards fired a final round of 76 and finished in second place with a three-round score of 227. The second place finish for Richards is a career-best. Senior’s Jaclyn Golden and Andra Lancaster both finished tied for 11th place.
Golden shot a final round of 80 and Lancaster posted an 82 as they finished the tournament with a score of 238. Brooke Tanner, playing as an individual, also tied for 11th place with a final round of 79.
Tara Lambright shot a third round score of 79 and was tied for 20th place with a score of 240. Christine Shimon was tied for 29th place with a final round of 84 as she posted a three-round total of 245.
As a team the Mean Green fired a third round score of 317 to finish at 941. Sam Houston State took home second place at 939 while UALR won the title with a three-round score of 934.
