North Texas In Fourth Place After The First Day Of The NT/UALR Classic

LANTANA, Tex. Sophomore Halli Richards fired a second round score of 1-over par 73 and paced the North Texas women’s golf team at the North Texas/UALR Women’s Golf Classic at Lantana Country Club.


Richards is alone in fourth place heading into the final round and just four shots off the lead.


North Texas as a team is in fourth place after the first two rounds. The Mean Green shot an opening round of 320, but rebounded with a 304 in the second round. Sam Houston State leads after the first two rounds with a score of 615.


“We played really well in the second round and I was pleased that we were able to rebound from the first round,” said North Texas head coach Amber Chevrie.


Senior Andra Lancaster is tied for ninth place after a second round score of 75 and had a two-round score of 156. Jaclyn Golden is tied for 17th place with a two-round score of 158. Individual Brooke Tanner is tied for 19th at 159 while Paige Padgett is in 21st place with a two-round total of 160.


Tara Lambright and Christine Shimon are one-shot behind Padgett and Tanner with a two-round score of 161.


The final round of the 2006 North Texas/UALR Women’s Golf Classic begins at 8 a.m. and is open to the public.
