Golden Sizzles At The NT/UALR Classic

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (3/26/07) Freshman Janna Golden lived up to her name. Golden tied her career-low round for a second time this season by firing an even-par first round of 72 to lead the North Texas women’s golf team at the NT/UALR Golf Classic.


Golden followed up her first 18 holes with a second round of 73 and is tied for fourth place, just four shots off the lead, heading into the final round.


Golden was 2-under par after the first nine holes of her first round. She carded a two-round score of 145.


The North Texas lineup, which features four freshmen, had its ups and downs in the first day of play. Kelsie Gray, Jordan Rose, Maggie Noel, and Tara Lambright all shot opening rounds of 81 but rebounded in their second rounds. Gray fired a 77, Rose a 78, Noel a 79, and Lambright an 80. Senior Christine Shimon, playing as an individual, shot a first round of 80 and a second round 83.


North Texas as a team shot a 622 and is tied for 10th place in the field of 17 teams.


The final round of the NT/UALR Golf Classic begins tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
