HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (3/24/08) It was a tough opening day for the North Texas women’s golf team as they battled the field and the conditions at the UALR Women’s Golf Classic. The Mean Green fired a two-round score of 640 and is alone in 17th place in the large field of 21 teams. Tulsa and Florida International are tied for the lead after the first two rounds of play.
Junior Halli Richards had the best afternoon for the Mean Green as she posted a two-round score of 155. Richards rebounded after an opening round of 81 to shoot a 2-over par 74 in the second round. She is tied for 29th after the first two rounds of play.
Janna Golden and Jordan Rose are six shots behind after two rounds as they both shot a 161. Golden had her best round in the first 18 holes with a 79 while Rose shot a 77 in her second round.
Maggie Noel opened with an 85 but recovered in the second round with a 79. Freshman Kirsten Spittler posted a two-round score of 170.
The final round of the UALR Women’s Golf Classic is set for tomorrow at 8 a.m.
