Golden Three Shots Back From The Lead After 36 Holes

WACO, Texas (3/16/09) Janna Golden is in the hunt for the individual title for the North Texas women’s golf team after the first day of the Baylor Spring Invitational. Through 36 holes Golden is only three shots behind the leader heading into the final 18 holes tomorrow.

She posted rounds of 75 and 76 and has a 151 through two rounds, which is tied for sixth place. Golden’s efforts, along with Maggie Noel who is in the top 20, have North Texas alone in ninth place after the first two rounds. North Texas shot a 313 and a 317 but only 10 shots separate the Mean Green from the top 5.


Noel posted back-to-back rounds of 78 and is tied for 19th place after 36 holes. Freshman Addison Long is one shot back after a 79 and 78. Jordan Rose shot an 81 and an 85 while Kyla Whittley struggled through the first two rounds with a score of 176.

Illinois State leads the field with a two-round score of 615. North Texas shot a 630 and is ninth in the field of 14 teams.

The final round begins tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
