TUCSON, Ariz. - Chaslyn Chrismer and McKenzie Ralston led the way for the North Texas women's golf team after the first day of play at the Mountain View Collegiate. Chrismer had a two-round score of 149, the best of the day for the Mean Green while Ralston had the seventh lowest first round of the day with a 71.
North Texas as a team after the first 36 holes is in 10th place. The Mean Green shot a 296 to open the day but fell back in the second round with a 309 to post a 605 for the day.
Chrismer is tied for 34th after shooting rounds of 75 and 74. Ralston's 71 had her in the top-10 after the opening round, but she dropped into a tie for 48th place after shooting a second round of 80.
Taylor Kilponen is one stroke behind Ralston with a 152 while she is carded a 74 in the first round and a 78 in the second round. She is tied for 50th place.
Brooke Bailey shot a score of 159 and is tied for 66th while Georgina Mundy is one stroke off with a 160 and alone in 71st place.
Texas Tech is the clubhouse leader after two rounds with a score of 573. The Mean Green trails Iowa by seven strokes heading into the final round.
The third and final round begins tomorrow morning with a shotgun start.
