Golden One Shot Behind The Leader After The First Round

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (3/7/05) North Texas junior Jaclyn Golden is tied for second place after firing an opening round of even-par 72 at the first day of the Bobcat Desert Classic. Golden shot her best round of the season and was the catalyst for North Texas as a team, which finished the day tied for fourth place with a score of 306.

 

“I thought that we really placed well today,” said North Texas head coach Cindi Padgett. “The girls came out and made some really difficult shots and we are really in a great position for the next couple of rounds”.

 

Golden had a front nine of 33 and was 3-under par at the turn. She finished with a back nine of 39 and is only one shot behind the leader after the first day.

 

Freshman Lauren Cheves is tied for 21st after a first round of 76 and freshman Halli Jo Richard is one shot behind at 77. Andra Lancaster struggled in the first round with an 81 and is tied for 55th.

 

As a team North Texas is 12 shots behind the leader Idaho. The second round of play begins tomorrow at 8 a.m.
